SUMMARY:Homeschool Garden Science: Seeds 101 - PM Session Only!
DESCRIPTION:This is an in-person program. Tickets are available for the the afternoon session (1-2PM) only. The morning session (10-11AM) is sold out. \nLearn about the difference between seeds and bulbs\, dissect a flower bulb\, and then plant flower seeds and bulbs to take home and grow! Recommended for ages 6-11 with chaperone participation. All attending adults and children are required to have a registered ticket.\n Updated Program Registration Information: \nIn light of concerns regarding COVID-19\, we are following State of Virginia and City of Norfolk mandates closely. We will be in contact with all participants should any COVID-related restrictions affect the class. The safety of our staff and guests are paramount to our organization. To ensure we are adhering to all necessary safety requirements\, we ask all of our class participants adhere to the following: \n All class attendants are required to follow current public health orders related to wearing masks/face coverings in a public setting.  \n All participating children must have a paid\, pre-registered ticket to attend the program.  To ensure social distancing measures and maintain small class sizes\, we ask that no additional sibling tag-alongs attend the program . \n All attending adults must have a registered ticket\, including all free Member adult tickets.  To ensure social distancing measures and maintain small class sizes\, we ask that only one adult chaperone attend with each participating child.  \n Classes will take place outdoors. Notification will be sent to participants of any/all location changes. \n All tickets must be pre-registered. Walk-up tickets the day of the class or program will not be available. \n Price for NBG Members: $10/child (adult members may attend for free). DESCRIPTION:This program is sold out. Please visit our Children & Family Programs calendar page for other available to-go kits. \n Spring is the perfect time to become an ornithologist – a scientist who studies birds! Learn about the different birds in the Tidewater Region\, paint a birdfeeder\, dissect an owl pellet\, and keep a bird journal. Recommended for ages 3+ with some caregiver participation.    \n To-go kits are scheduled to be picked up from the Garden\, and completed at home. This kit includes instructions on how to access additional materials on Google Classroom.  \n Not able to pick-up a kit on the scheduled date? No problem! After you purchase your kit\, email youthed@nbgs.org with the date you will be available to come to the Garden to collect the kit.\n NOTE ON FACE COVERINGS DURING KIT PICK-UP : \n In compliance with Virginia’s Governor’s Executive Order 63\, NBG commits to the following:  \n All guests and volunteers ages 5+ are required to wear a protective mask that covers the mouth and nose when entering any NBG building or structure including outdoor restrooms. \n Our youngest visitors\, “Sprouts” over the age of two\, are strongly encouraged to wear a mask in compliance with current CDC health and safety recommendations. \n Guests are asked to bring their own personal facemask. NBG has a very limited supply of disposal masks available upon request at the Guest Services desk in Baker Hall. \n Face coverings shall also be required when patrons are  outdoors  if a distance of six feet from other persons\, not associated with one household\, cannot be maintained. \n Price for NBG Members:  $10/kit. \n Price for Not-yet Members: $15/kit.  To-go kits do not include Garden admission.

This is an in-person program that is free with Garden admission. We will be in contact with all participants should any COVID-related restrictions affect the class. The safety of our staff and guests are paramount to our organization. To ensure we are adhering to all necessary safety requirements\, we ask all of our class participants adhere to the following: \n All class attendants are required to wear masks for this program.  \n All participating children must have a pre-registered ticket to participate in the program. \n Adult chaperones must attend with participating children – drop offs are not permitted. \n This program will take place outdoors. Notification will be sent to participants of any/all location changes. \n All tickets must be pre-registered. Walk-up tickets the day of the program will not be available. \n This program requires pre-registration and is included with Garden admission. Guests must register their child ticket(s) to attend. Walk-up participation will not be permitted .  \n Upon arrive at the Garden\, guests are required to either show their NBG membership or pay admission fees upon entry. Program tickets do not include Garden admission .  \n After arriving at the Garden\, you will check-in at the Baker Hall Visitor Center to receive your program wristband\, and then walk to the Potager Kitchen Garden for the program. Guests should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to check-in and walk to the location site.
