Building on a  legacy  that began in the 1930s, when 220 African American Works Progress Administration workers transformed swampland into a thriving public garden, the initiative will introduce a state-of-the-art conservatory, environmentally innovative Entry Pavilion and expanded education and conservation programs.

Supported by strong  community investment ,  The Garden of Tomorrow  aims to  protect  plant diversity,  inspire  environmental stewardship and position Norfolk Botanical Garden as a leading  destination  for horticulture and public engagement. Anchored by the 26,000 square foot  Perry Conservatory , featuring tropical and desert biomes, and a significant permanent  Dale Chihuly glass art  collection, the Garden offers visitors a rare intersection of  art, nature, and global plant conservation .

With the addition of the  Perry Conservatory ,  Kay and Al Abiouness Skywalk ,  The Kenneth A. and Patricia A Hall Charitable Foundation Shoreline Restoration , the multi-use performance stage ,  the  Brock Parking Garden ,  Brock Entry Pavilion  and  Brock Environmental Education Center ,  The Garden of Tomorrow  paves the way for environmental action and change. Norfolk Botanical Garden is a  175-acre oasis  and one of America’s leading public gardens, home to more than  65 themed landscapes , nationally accredited plant collections, and  immersive  horticultural experiences. Guests can  explore  by tram, boat, or walking paths, including WOW: World of Wonders, a Children’s Adventure Garden. The Garden is also known for its  nationally accredited  holdings of camellias, hydrangeas, and crape myrtles, as well as one of the region’s most celebrated rose displays.

Norfolk Botanical Garden is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, is a member of Botanic Gardens Conservation International, and is recognized as a V irginia Historic Landmark , listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and designated a  Virginia Green attraction . Please present your WRL card upon arrival at NBG’s Tollbooth. All guests must arrive in the same vehicle or be in the vehicle directly behind the WRL cardholder. Promotion only valid on June 29, 2026, and does not apply to classes or ticketed events.

Norfolk Botanical Garden invites you to enjoy our first-ever Cherry Blossom Scavenger Hunt, running daily through cherry blossom bloom season! Find all six Cherry Blossom Scavenger Hunt Trees labeled with the dark pink flower. Look under each of these trees and make note of the corresponding letter. Once you’ve completed the word, stop by our Front Desk in Baker Hall Visitor Center to receive a prize while supplies last!

Physical Scavenger Hunt maps are available at our Baker Hall Visitor Center.

Please note: cherry blossom bloom season varies from year to year. Currently, varieties of our cherry blossoms are predicted to be blooming through 04/05/26, but this date is subject to change.
