Building on a legacy that began in the 1930s, when 220 African American Works Progress Administration workers transformed swampland into a thriving public garden, the initiative will introduce a state-of-the-art conservatory, environmentally innovative Entry Pavilion and expanded education and conservation programs.
Supported by strong community investment , The Garden of Tomorrow aims to protect plant diversity, inspire environmental stewardship and position Norfolk Botanical Garden as a leading destination for horticulture and public engagement. Anchored by the 26,000 square foot Perry Conservatory , featuring tropical and desert biomes, and a significant permanent Dale Chihuly glass art collection, the Garden offers visitors a rare intersection of art, nature, and global plant conservation .
With the addition of the Perry Conservatory , Kay and Al Abiouness Skywalk , The Kenneth A. and Patricia A Hall Charitable Foundation Shoreline Restoration , the multi-use performance stage , the Brock Parking Garden , Brock Entry Pavilion and Brock Environmental Education Center , The Garden of Tomorrow paves the way for environmental action and change.
